The Mitten

For our thirteenth week of preschool, our unit was focused on the book "The Mitten" by Jan Brett. I love me some Jan Brett! Her books are beautiful! She also wrote "The Gingerbread Baby" which I wrote about in this post. In this book, "The Mitten" the grandma is named "Baba" which is what the children call my mom. It was quite the surprise! Apparently in the Ukraine (where this book takes place) they use the word "Baba" for grandma.

Anyway, the book was about winter, and since during the winter people mostly stay inside, we stayed inside, too! We headed over to the children's museum. Here is a picture of Stella climbing the rock wall there. She has also been up a 20 foot rock wall by herself! She went up to the top here. Then she was going up again and fell from the middle and sprained her foot! It took about a week and a half to heal! Crazy! I'll have to make sure she's extra careful next time, if she'll even go up it!

Ouch! Looks like she was having fun though, so hopefully she'll do it again.
